The end of an era..

Hello all,

Long time, no blog! We've been really busy since we got back. Work has been hectic and so has the old social life. I have also started up my own site - www.limewebdesign.co.nz which is quite exciting, even in these early stages.

I'm doing some more study in February which will give me a cert in e-marketing and will even earn me some academic letters, provided I pass! Work is paying for this one so if I don't pass I have to hand over the money.

Adam is looking for a new job now, his boss has resigned so that speaks volumes about how things are in the Vodafone business call centre at the moment. Everyone is dropping like flies.

I won't be updating this blog from here on in as I will be starting one up for LIME soon which will take up some time. However, I will be putting photos online for family & friends at http://www.limewebdesign.co.nz/personal/index.html I'll also add the odd update here and there as well so please bookmark it and visit now and again. I've added a link to the right for easy clicking!

To all of you that don't fit into the above category, thanks for visiting, reading and hanging out. This blog was my first step on the way to learning all about this geeky web stuff and it's been fun.

Big hugs and other mushy stuff to all.
Kate

Back to the real world.....

We've been back almost a week now and I think that the jet lag is wearing off.

England was fantastic, London was particularly cool. Adams family were all so nice and we all got on really well and had a great time. I cant wait until someone invents a tele-porter and we can go all the time!

The weather wasn't too bad, we even had a few days that were nicer than what we came back to! Go figure! Drank loads, ate loads. Already having cider withdrawals as the stuff we have here just takes like fizzy apple juice. Everything comes with chips or baked beans (pretty much!). Jumbo Sausage with Chips & curry sauce was a favourite that Adam had missed. I have to admit, as disgusting as it looks - its pretty good as far as junk food goes. The Dog & Partridge was the stand in "local" while we were in Morecambe.

I didn't think we had bought a lot but weighing the bags at the airport blew that idea out of the water - we were 8kgs over and very lucky that we didn't have to pay!

I'll some photos over the weekend....

3 sleeps to go...

Not long now and we are both very excited. Adam has gone and got himself a cold though so he's banished to the spare room until we leave or until he gets better so that I don't pick it up off him. Terrible timing for a cold but what can you do!

I had a haircut this afternoon and had more than half of my hair chopped off. Its now at shoulder length so will be much easier to straighten now and depending on the day it might even curl nicely but it has a mind of its own when it comes to the curls!

Been a busy week at work trying to get caught up on everything but will be worth it.

Im just ranting now, waiting for some music downloads to finish so that we'll have some sounds for the plane trip so will wrap it up here.

Take care all.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Spam...

In a vain effort to stop spammers inundating our in boxes with promises of sustainable erections, university degrees and cheap prescription medications, the Department of Internal affairs has launched the NZ Anti-Spam legislation.

The irony in this is that I have received more spam in the last 2 weeks than ever before. Many companies are crumbling under the threat of prosecution and are sending emails to their entire databases to make 150% sure that we are all happy to be on their lists. I can understand the need for smaller companies to perform this operation as they may not be so high tech when it comes to their customer databases but not the "big boys". The big boys have money, and money buys fancy systems and processes that track customer sign ups, they include copy that lets you know what you are signing up for and have you tick a wee box to indicate that you are prepared to receive their emails. To me, this seems more than enough to have deemed and/or express consent.

I have to wonder how many customer contacts they are hemorrhaging by inviting people to unsubscribe? I wish I could find out.

I doubt that this is going to create any head-way into prosecuting spammers, despite what we say about these "scum of the earth" type people; they are pretty smart. They aren't likely to be leaving a calling card at the base of each spam attack so they can be tracked down.

Oh well....Its a nice idea.
